Palauan community to pursue cultural project

The closure of Palau’s Consulate here will not discourage them from completing the project, he added.

Their group, however, has asked the Palauan government to reconsider its decision to close the consulate by Dec. 30.

Aguon said their Navy Hill project will help the local tourism industry.

The Palauan government is planning to build a traditional meeting house, or abai, on the 5,000-sq. meter lot, donated by the CNMI government.

Earlier, Palau Consul Eileen Kintol said they would also open a youth center in the area.

Then-Palau President Tommy Remengesau raised $25,000 for the project, for which the Palauan community will continue to raise funds.
