Judge Kenneth L. Govendo also granted Reyes’s request to be released to his wife as his third party custodian.
Reyes was required to post an unsecured bond for the balance of the bail.
Govendo directed Reyes to not have any contact with his victims: his daughter and her partner, and to not consume alcohol “at all.”
On Feb. 5, 2011, the prosecution said Reyes got angry at his daughter after seeing a dirty diaper on the kitchen counter at their residence in Kanat Tabla.
The defendant told his daughter that she was “useless” and “does nothing at the house,” police said.
“Dad, don’t say that because I’m the one working and providing food for this house,” police quoted the daughter as telling her father.
The defendant then opened the refrigerator door and threw out all of the food, police said.
The defendant also told his daughter not to take the car.
The father later punched his daughter to the left side of her head, and kicked her at the back, police said.
When the victim walked toward the living room, her father punched her again on the right side of the face that caused swelling and a black eye, police said.
Reyes kicked again his daughter on her back, police said.
With the godmother of her five-month-old child, the victim left their residence, called her boyfriend on the phone, and asked for police assistance.
