Dec. 3 is austerity Friday and this means that today, Dec. 2, will be payday.
But Press Secretary Angel A. Demapan said government employees should brace for another delay in the issuance of their payroll checks.
He said the continued decline in adequate cash flow has once again caused the government to put a halt to the Dec. 3 payroll for employees getting paid from the general fund.
Demapan said only government employees classified as performing “critical services” will have their checks posted in their bank accounts on Friday.
They include the emergency personnel from the Department of Public Safety’s police and fire divisions, the Department of Public Health, the Department of Corrections and the Division of Youth Services’ Juvenile Detention Unit.
Demapan said federally funded employees can also expect to receive their paycheks on time.
All other personnel paid out of the general fund will have their paychecks posted in their bank accounts either Tuesday or Wednesday next week, he said.
