The instructor is Steve Smith from Saipan.
The workshop is a series of four sessions designed to give high school students the basics of grammar and applying that knowledge to creative writing. The theme is anything related to Tinian.
The workshop is a result of a grant from the Northern Mariana Islands Council for the Humanities.
The next workshop is scheduled for Monday, Aug. 17, at the Tinian High School Library from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m. The remaining two sessions will continue on Saturdays.

Autism Society meeting
THE Autism Society of the CNMI will meet on Saturday, Aug. 22, at 10 a.m. in the NMPASI conference room, a media release said.

(EMO) — The U.S. military will conduct live fire training release on Farallon De Mendenilla, Aug. 10-13, 7 a.m. to 7 p.m.
Due to the danger imposed by this activity, Gov. Benigno R. Fitial is strongly advising the general public, especially fishermen, commercial pilots and marine tour operators, to stay away from this area during the time and date indicated.

Air Force recruiter will be on Saipan
(Military/Veterans Affairs) — M/Sgt. Dayne C. Thomas will be on Saipan from Aug. 12 to 13.
He will be at the Office of Military/Veterans Affairs from 12 noon until 3 p.m. on both days.

He is looking for qualified men and women, between the ages of 17-27. High school diploma is desired. An applicant must not have medical problems and must have good moral character.

Veterans briefing
(Office of the Governor) — On Aug. 10-14, Danielle Gualtieri, the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs public contact and outreach specialist for Guam and the CNMI, will be on Saipan for veterans outreach on veterans federal benefits.
In addition, Ray Chang, also from the federal VA, will be on Saipan on Aug. 12 to brief on the VA home loan and adaptive housing.
They will entertain questions and assist with claims.
Date, time and place of the briefing is as follows:
• Rota: Aug 10-11, 0800-1600, at the Rota mayor’s office, conference room
• Saipan: Aug. 12-13, 0800 to 1600, at the Office of Military/Veterans Affairs on Capital Hill, Building 1364
