PIC fundraising campaign sells over 600 rubber ducks

PIC sports manager Lindsey Sosovec yesterday said they have sold and collected the payments for 669 rubber ducks for the race next week, and they are expecting to sell over 500 more rubber ducks this week.

She said they have distributed booklets of tickets to PIC employees but they have yet to finalize the number of sold rubber ducks.

“We don’t have the final number but we are hoping to reach our goal,” Sosovec said.

The rubber duck race, the first fundraising style of its kind for the MMAC, will be launched from the Point Break Slide and the PIC Lazy River at 6:15 p.m. on Feb. 21.

“The rubber ducks will complete one revolution in the lazy river and the owner of the rubber duck who crosses the finish line first will get the $1,000 prize,” Sosovec said.

The rubber ducks are sold at $5 each.

“We encourage the community to help us raise more funds to make the life of cancer victims easier by buying ducks for the race,” Sosovec said.

All proceeds of the duck race will go to Commonwealth Cancer Association.

Usually, fundraising campaigns involve coin drives, serving hot lunches, luminary sales, car wash activities, bake sales and other events.

To make duck reservations or for more information, call 235-6231, ext. 5147; fax 235-7981; e-mail [email protected]; or pick up the rubber ducks at the PIC information counter.
