The board members of the Korean Association of Saipan met Tuesday to discuss the issue, and told this reporter that their office have been receiving calls from television and print media entities from Korea.
The group’s secretary general Hoo Joon Joo said Yona Television Network a popular TV station in South Korea, and several print media organizations have been calling them almost everyday to get updates about the issue of the Korean nurses on Saipan.
Joo said their organization decided to take some action.
But the board did not disclose what they have decided to do regarding the controversy.
Joon said many newspapers in South Korea have reprinted Variety’s news stories regarding the nurses.
Nine Korean nurses are still here to study English. They are hoping to join an internship program at CHC, for which each of them paid their recruiter, Jay Kim, $3,750. They also paid $1,200 each to attend the English class at the University of Loyola in Susupe, and are paying $1,000 for their apartment rent and food each month.
One Korean nurse has decided to study English here on her own. She also hopes to work at CHC as an intern.
