Wu Xiao Hong, who was imprisoned for three years in China, is now asking the federal ombudsman to give her refugee protection.
Last Thursday, she joined the other Falun Dafa practitioners on island in distributing leaflets to community members.
She and her colleagues displayed their banners and streamers at the Microl intersection on Beach Road.
May 13 was World Falun Dafa Day.
Yong Jun, a newspaper publisher and the group’s spokesman, said this year’s celebration was very significant.
The U.S. House of Representative, he added, has adopted the resolution “recognizing the continued persecution of Falun Gong practitioners in China on the 10th anniversary of the Chinese Communist Party campaign to suppress the Falun Gong spiritual movement.”
The resolution calls for an immediate end to the campaign to persecute, intimidate, imprison, and torture Falun Gong practitioners.
“I hope the persecution will stop,” Yong Jun said.
Here on Saipan, he said, they will continue their spiritual activities and will ask the CNMI government to again allow them to conduct their prayers at Banzai Cliff.
Department of Public Lands Secretary Oscar M. Babauta said he has yet to receive the group’s request.
According to its practitioners, Falun Dafa exercises help reduce stress and can bring great improvements to one’s health and fitness.
Most of their 30 members on Saipan are lawful nonresident workers, Yong Jun said.
