Of the 47 positions that still need to be filled, 38 are classroom teachers and nine are counselors.
The 58 classroom teachers and counselors hired are spread across CNMI public elementary, junior high, and high schools.
PSS still needs to hire nine counselors for its alternative education program, teachers, counselors and librarians for San Antonio Elementary School, San Vicente Elementary School, Tinian Elementary School, Sinapalo Elementary School and Rota High School.
Last year the Public School System received $24,352.276 from the federal State Fiscal Stabilization Fund for its educational projects which include hiring more teachers and personnel.
$11.1 million was allocated for hiring 105 full-time teachers and counselors.
PSS said it is recruiting more personnel and anticipates filling all 105 positions by school year 2010-2011.
