PSS loses computer to thief

A LAPTOP computer worth $30,000 was stolen from the Public School System’s central office on Wednesday.

Department of Public Safety spokesman Pete C. Muna said the laptop computer was taken by an unidentified person on the second floor of the Retirement Fund Building occupied by PSS.

According to Muna, PSS technology coordinator Mark Savares told the police that a staff noticed the item was gone when she reported to work on Wednesday at 7 a.m.

Another PSS staff, Andrea Alepuyo, told the police that she worked in the office until late evening on Tuesday.

Alepuyo stated that at 5 p.m., she heard the door to the office opened. She said she did not see who went in because her view was blocked by a partition wall at her desk.

Alepuyo said she left the office at 6:38 p.m.

Police placed the case under further investigation.

In other news, police arrested a 47-year-old man for allegedly beating up a woman who refused to give him money at a poker arcade in western Garapan on Wednesday night.

Ziang Guo Wang was held for assault and battery, and disturbing the peace.

Police said while the woman was playing poker at 777 Poker Game Room, Ziang approached and asked her for some money.

When the victim refused because she did not know him, Ziang allegedly slapped her twice on the cheek and held her left lower arm tightly.

The victim managed to get away during a struggle. She ran outside and asked for police assistance.

Police Officer Simon Manacop placed Ziang under arrest.
