Rios, a former vice principal of the school, assumed her new position beginning this month, succeeding Julian Hofschneider, who has transferred to the island’s junior high school.
PSS earlier named Rizzalina Purugganan and Sharlene Manglona as the new principals of Koblerville Elementary and Rota High School.
Purugganan replaced Eric Evangelista who has moved to the U.S. while Manglona succeeded Lynne Michael who has transferred to Sinapalo Elementary School.
Purugganan and Manglona earlier filed grievances against their predecessors.
According to Sablan, Hofschneider is now teaching math at the island’s junior high.
She said prior to Rios’ appointment, consultations with the school officials took place.
“I have high confidence in her because she has been in the administration of Tinian elementary for many years,” Sablan said.
Based on the school system’s regulations, those who hold acting positions can get the mandated compensation for the permanent position after 90 days of their “actingship.”
The “old salary” of the acting officials will be restored once PSS names a permanent candidate for the position.
