Reporting Day on Aug. 31 is usually held a week before the opening of classes and is devoted to preparation and orientation.
Sablan said PSS is closely coordinating with the Department of Public Health in enforcing programs to ensure the protection of students, teachers and other faculty members from H1N1.
On Reporting Day, she said PSS will discuss precautionary measures against the spread of the H1N1, including an educational campaign that involves the parents of the school system’s more than 10,000 students.
Sablan said the teachers are fully aware about the safety measures against H1N1.
“We continue to provide flyers and sanitizers to the different schools,” Sablan said.
Last month, she added, PSS activated its emergency task force after the Commonwealth Health Center reported two confirmed cases of the H1N1 virus on island.
PSS also held a series meetings with Public Health officials,
Sablan said teachers have been advised to send home any student who is ill or showing symptoms of H1N1.
“We are also asking parents not to send their children to school if they have the symptoms,” she added.
Sablan said this should protect other students from being exposed to the virus and prevent its spread on island.
