Roxanne Diaz, DPH’s program analyst, said the vaccination drive has been “very successful” so far, and many people have been “very responsive.”
She said they have received only three cases of complaint of shortness of breath or rashes. Those three individuals were immediately treated at the hospital and later released, she added.
Last year, she said they administered the vaccine to 62 percent of the total population of the students in the commonwealth.
“We will go back to the elementary schools and the Head Start centers this month,” she added.
According to Diaz, they are now finalizing schedules for schools that healthcare providers will visit.
When the department began the vaccination program, about 750 doses of the H1N1 vaccines were administered on the first day, she said.
They will continue to accommodate members of the general public who want to get the free vaccine, she added.
