Ramangmou placed on probation for domestic violence

The 41-year-old Ramangmou admitted disturbing the peace as part of a negotiated plea agreement.

The Attorney General’s Office charged Ramangmou with assault with a dangerous weapon, and disturbing the peace after he attempted to hit Patricia Laniyo Norita, as described in the complaint by a household member of Ramangmou, on Jan. 6, 2010.

Naraja sentenced Ramangmou to a six-month jail term, all suspended, and credited the six days the defendant served at the Department of Corrections facility.

Naraja dismissed with prejudice the charge of assault with a dangerous weapon as moved by the AGO.

Naraja said Ramangmou will be subject to an extension of his term of probation, revocation, or probation and/or imposition of all or part of the suspended portion of the sentence, should the defendant violate the terms of his probation by committing another crime.

Ramangmou was told to obey all federal and CNMI laws and was barred from consuming alcohol during his six-month probation.

He will pay a $25 court assessment fee within 30 days, a $60 probation fee and a $250 fine.

Ramangmou will undergo alcohol and anger management counseling and other related counseling at the Community Guidance Center, and perform 40 hours of community work service.

Assistant Attorney General Peter B. Prestley prosecuted the case while Ramangmou was represented by Assistant Public Defender Michael C. Brown
