“The students, staff and faculty will receive periodic updates regarding the search and will also receive an opportunity to submit their input,” she said.

King said the board of regents is committed to selecting the “best president” to lead NMC.

The board, she added, will observe its timeline and costs associated in searching for the “right president.”

The board will weigh each applicant’s qualifications, she said.

“The next president of the college is also expected to uphold NMC’s commitment to high academic standards and superior student services. He or she will continue to elevate NMC’s visibility in the CNMI as well as in the region,” she added.

King said the new president will continue to develop stronger ties with  the community and form mutually beneficial partnerships with external agencies and organizations.

King said the board will ensure that the new president will have an academic and administrative leadership and direction for the college.

She said the president should also work with the board, the faculty, the students and the community.

“The president is expected to advance the college with integrity, transparency, and a sense of purpose,” she added.

The board fired NMC President Carmen Fernandez on April 12 over allegations that she changed the grades of certain students.
