The different programs and activities that the library will offer from June 22 to Aug. 20 include Reading Challenge, healthy ballroom dance, traditional cultural activities, read aloud and crafts.
Library executive director John O. Gonzales is inviting members of the community to sign up for the different programs and get involved in the different cultural activities.
“This is the first time that the Joeten-Kiyu Public Library will be integrating health and culture into our library programs,” Gonzales said.
On Tuesday, June 22, the Wise Women Village Project’s healthy ballroom dance sessions will begin. The morning sessions will be from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. for children 6 to 9 years old, and from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m. for the 10-13-year-old bracket.
The sessions will be held on the same time slot every Tuesday and Thursday until Aug. 20.
On June 23, the first session for the read aloud and crafts is scheduled at 9-10 a.m. and 10:15-11:15 a.m. every Wednesday and Friday.
The Chamorro and Carolinian cultural activity is slated every Wednesday from 1 p.m. to 4:30 p.m., Friday and Saturday.
The theme of the Summer Reading & Cultural Fair program is “Make a Splash.”
“We would like the community to be there and join the summer programs because this is for you. We want students and families to come and make the library their favorite hangout,” Gonzales said.
