Representatives of MMAC accepted the check in the hotel lobby yesterday.
MMAC 2010 advisor Reina Camacho said the donation will be added to the proceeds from the march which took place at Hopwood Junior High School on May 14-15.
“It’s never too early or too late to support the cancer association for the benefit of cancer awareness and support programs in the CNMI. We are very grateful to the Hyatt Regency for this generous donation,” Camacho said.
The MMAC is the signature event and largest fundraising activity of CCA. This year’s march raised over $75,000 inclusive of in-kind donations.
The Hyatt regularly joined the march in the past several years, but this time it decided to hold separate fundraising events before the MMAC.
Hyatt’s donation came from the proceeds of its Family Fun Night held from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m. at the hotel beachside on May 7 where visitors enjoyed delicious food, games and activities such as spin the wheel, marble challenge, face painting, fishing, and more.
In addition, the Hyatt donated 20 percent of the sales generated from its booth at the street market in Garapan every Thursday as well as 20 percent of the sales from their booth at the Taste of the Marianas Food Festival last May.
