Reintegration program for Filipino workers

Labor representative Carmelina Velasquez yesterday said the seminar will be conducted in collaboration with  Filipino community leaders and volunteers.

“This  aims at increasing the level of awareness regarding the reintegration programs and services for overseas workers when they return to the Philippines,” she said.

The event will be held on Dec. 19 at the multi-purpose center in Susupe from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.

She encouraged Filipino community leaders to submit names of their members who are interested to attend the seminar.

Registration is important as the venue can only accommodate from 150 to 200 persons, she said.

The seminar will also be an opportunity to encourage and motivate  Filipino workers to maximize the gains of overseas employment through savings and investments in productive economic enterprises in the Philippines.

Topics for discussion include migration realities, financial literacy, savings and investments, and available livelihood and small business opportunities in the Philippines.

The Philippine Consulate General, the Overseas Labor Office and the Overseas Workers Welfare Administration have been offering livelihood and skilled training classes to Filipinos in the CNMI.

Velasquez said the Dec. 19 seminar is part of the 77th anniversary celebration of the Department of Labor and Employment in the Philippines.

“Instead of having a party we decided to have this reintegration program to reach out to the Filipino workers,” she said.

Registration will start on Dec. 11 and end on Dec. 17 at the Philippine Overseas Labor Office on the ground floor  of the Marianas Business Plaza in Susupe
