IN the first two quarters of fiscal year 2024, the Commonwealth Utilities Corp. spent a total of $54.6 million, acting CUC Executive Director Betty Terlaje reported to the Legislature last week.
Public Law 23-9 requires CUC to submit its quarterly expenditures report to the Legislature.
In her report to Speaker Edmund S. Villagomez and Senate President Edith Deleon Guerrero, Terlaje attached a spreadsheet indicating CUC’s expenditures in the first and second quarters of the fiscal year.
In the first quarter, CUC spent a total of 28.1 million. This included $5.2 million for personnel and $22.8 million for operation.
In the second quarter, CUC said it spent $22.9 million, including $4.1 million for personnel and $18.6 million for operation.
There are two more quarters — April 1 to June 30, and July 1 to September 30 — left in the fiscal year.
CUC is an independent agency that is self-funded and regulated by the Commonwealth Public Utilities Commission.
