THE Retirement Fund board of trustees has named former Rep. Karl T. Reyes as its new administrator.
Fund Chairman Vicente C. Camacho said Reyes will serve as the agency’s official spokesman on all matters pertaining to the Retirement Fund, including its day-to-day operations. The Fund’s general counsel, Kathleen Troy-Rucker, will handle legal matters, Camacho said.
After former Sen. Juan S. Torres was terminated from his position as administrator last year, Troy-Rucker served as the Fund’s spokeswoman.
A Republican, Reyes represented Saipan’s Precinct 1 in the 10th and 11th Legislatures. He chaired the Committee on Ways and Means and is currently chairman of the Free Trade Zone Board.
Gov. Juan N. Babauta said with Reyes as the Fund’s new administrator, the administration can work with the agency regarding the proposal to implement a uniform health insurance plan. “We look forward to working with (him),” Babauta said. “We have every confidence that he would do a great job. He has been in the government and the private sector, so he knows how to manage and run this program,” he said.
