‘Ride for a Cure’

The Mariana Islands Chapter of Harley Owners Group, or HOG, held their first “Ride for a Cure” on Saturday, as they hit the road from Micronesia Mall, Dededo to Windward Hills Country Club, Talofofo. The event concluded with a check presentation of $500 to the American Cancer Society.

According to HOG’s assistant director Joe San Agustin, this is the third year the group has made donations to the American Cancer Society. In the previous years, they participated in Continental Airlines’ annual Airplane Pull. This year, they decided to kick things up a notch and ride out cancer.

It’s a new tradition to be held every May, to benefit the American Cancer Society.

The HOG is a nonprofit organization that has over 150 members and growing who come from a span of different professions, according to San Agustin.

Since the group’s inception, the HOG has done Goodwill Tours, hosted several events and made donations to various other nonprofit organizations that include the Salvation Army, American Red Cross, Department of Youth Affairs, and more. They also are active in community service.

Saturday’s ride was just one of many charitable events the HOG had planned out.
