
OLIVER A. Castro, who pled guilty to one count of robbery, was sentenced to five years in prison, with all but six months suspended. The remaining sentence is not subject to parole, early release, work release, or weekend release. He was credited with seven days served.
Judge Kenneth L. Govendo also ordered Castro to report to the Department of Corrections today, Friday, at 8 a.m. to start serving his sentence.
Castro, who will turn 41 on April 14, will be released from the custody of Corrections on Oct. 4, 2025 at 8 a.m.
He will pay a $200 fine and court costs. After serving his sentence, he will be placed on five years’ probation and pay a $600 probation fee.
As part of his probation, Castro will pay $585 in restitution to Royal Poker in Afetnas, San Antonio, and complete 160 hours of community service.
He is ordered to have no direct or indirect contact with the victim and to stay away from Royal Poker.
The information filed against Castro states, “On or about Nov. 23, 2023 [he] unlawfully took property from Royal Poker…by use or threatened use of immediate [force] or violence, to wit: approximately $500 in U.S. currency, in violation of 6 CMC 1411(a) and made punishable by 6 CMC 1411(b)(1) and 4101(a).”
Castro was represented by Assistant Public Defender Molly Dennert while Assistant Attorney General Heather Barcinas appeared for the government.
