Rogolofoi gets 28 days for theft

Inos credited the time already served by Pricilla Rogolofoi, 36, since Feb. 24, 2011, and the defendant is expected to be released from prison on March 24, 2011.

Chief Prosecutor Michael Ernest, who represented the government, moved for the acceptance of the plea agreement, describing the sentence as “sufficient.”

Ernest told the court that the defendant immediately accepted the crime at the start of the case, and agreed to cooperate with the government in its investigation.

Inos earlier rejected the plea agreement, but later reconsidered his ruling, and took into consideration the government’s position.

Inos said the penalty imposed on Rogolofoi was “very light.”

Inos noted, however, that the defendant  willingly accepted responsibility.

Rogolofoi admitted to using credit cards and fleet cards of certain individuals and CNMI government agencies at a gasoline station in Dandan on or about Oct. 20, 2010 to Jan. 2011.

Upon release from prison, Rogolofoi will be placed on three years probation.

She was required to pay a $100 fine, a probation fee and court costs, and a restitution yet to be determined by the Adult Probation Office.

Rogolofoi will write a letter of apology to all her victims, and will not have any contact with the Shell gasoline station in Dandan.

Assistant Public Defender Douglas Hartig served as counsel for Rogolofoi, who was remanded to the custody of the Department of Corrections to complete her remaining seven-day jail term.
