Last Friday, Rota Aging Center program coordinator Josepha Barcinas said they started their revitalization project.
Among those who volunteered are Rota Municipal Council vice chairman Arvin C. Ogo, municipal secretary Prudencio A. Manglona, his son Prudencio Jr. and staff.
Barcinas said the volunteers performed the initial water blasting and scraped the paint to get the building ready for a new layer of paint.
She said the center underwent improvements after the visit of Department of Community and Cultural Affairs Secretary Melvin Faisao on June 8.
Faisao met with senior citizens who asked for his assistance regarding the inoperable air-conditioning unit and deteriorated condition of the building.
The immediate response of Faisao, in collaboration with Office on Aging director Rose Mondala, was like a Christmas gift, Barcinas said.
“The Rota Municipal Council members also volunteered their and their staff’s personal time to aid the revitalization project at Aging Center,” Barcinas said.
Variety learned the revitalization project will continue this week as the center is expecting more volunteers.
Barcinas said Rota Municipal Council Chairman George O. Hocog requested the Department of Public Works on Rota for manpower.
Barcinas and the congregates thanked Faisao, Mondala, and the Rota Municipal Council for their support.
“The Manamko’ Luta Association would like to encourage the Rota community to donate or volunteer labor for this worthwhile project on their behalf,” she said
