Former Sen. Diego M. Songao, chairman of the commission, said they also ratify the election of officers, terms of office and approved their by-laws during their first regular meeting on Saturday.
Their fiscal year 200 budget will be submitted to the Rota legislative delegation for its approval, Songao said.
Also included in their proposed budget is the $60,000 annual compensation for each commissioner as stipulated in the law, he added.
The commission will announce vacancies for a full-time legal counsel, a professional consultant and an executive director.
“The commission is working hard to get its operations in place,” Songao said.
The Antonio Camacho Memorial Library is the commission’s temporary office, he added.
Songao and the other commissioners — Ephrem S. Taimanao, Melchor A. Mendiola, Abelina T. Mendiola and Justin S. Manglona — were sworn in on July 1 with Rota municipal treasurer Francisco M. Atalig as the commission’s treasurer.
Timanao was elected vice chairman and Manglona, secretary.
Manglona will serve two years; Abelina and Melchor Mendiola, three years; while Songao and Taimanao, four years.
Songao said they need to complete the drafting of the commission’s rules and regulations before they can meet with prospective casino investors.
