She succeeds former Sen. Diego M. Songao who resigned.
The commission elected its new officers on Aug. 14 in its office in Tatachog, Rota.
Ephrem S. Taimanao and Abelina T. Mendiola were elected vice chairman and secretary.
The commission did not explain why Songao resigned.
Early this year, following his inauguration, Rota Mayor Melchor A. Mendiola appointed Manglona as his replacement on the commission.
As stipulated in their by-laws, the members of the commission will select one of their members to be chairman for a term of two years.
In an interview, gaming commission executive director Alfredo O. Antolin Jr. said based on “legal opinion,” Justin S. Manglona, whose term ended on June 15, can continue serving the commission in a “holdover” capacity.
The mayor may reappoint Justin S. Manglona or a new member.
Variety was told that with three members, the commission can still do business except when it comes to issuing a license to operate a casino.
Each member of the commission gets $60,000 annually.
Rota Treasure Island Casino, which is owned by a group of Japanese, local and stateside investors, will have a grand opening at the Rota Hotel on Oct. 10.
