Rota mayor names 5 to scholarship board

Former Finance Secretary Fermin M. Atalig, Joaquin S. Manglona, Maria S. Quitugua, Lydia M. Manglona and Tom Glenn A. Quitugua are the mayor’s nominees.

Mendiola asked the Rota legislative delegation, which Independent Sen. Juan M. Ayuyu chairs, to confirm his nominees so that the restructuring process for the local scholarship program can begin.

The mayor said there are many youths on Rota who need government assistance to pursue college education.

“As elected officials, we share the same goals in improving the lives of our people and one of the objectives toward this goal is to enhance the educational opportunities of our people, especially our youths,” he told Ayuyu in a letter.

“Toward that end, my office will work in organizing the Rota Municipal Scholarship Foundation Board as required by Rota Local Law 13-4,” he added.

The mayor said Rota students deserve the same assistance that Saipan students get from their mayor’s office.
