“I was not aware of the notice,” he said, adding that had he known about the committee hearing he would have attended it.
“I always attend a public hearing when I am aware [of] it,” the mayor said.
Atalig said his office may have received the notice of hearing, but the person in-charge “failed to convey the message” to him.
“I didn’t know about it. I only found out about it this morning,” he said, adding that he would talk about it with his office staff members.
The House Special Committee on Federal Assistance and Disaster Related Funding scheduled a hearing on Rota, Monday, to inquire about the mayor’s expenditure and status of federal funds for disaster recovery.
The mayor did not show up for the hearing.
