Rota mayor’s son released to 3rd party custodian

Inos, who is training to become a police officer, appeared in Superior Court yesterday with his lawyer, Public Defender Adam Hardwicke. The government was represented by Assistant Attorney General Melissa Simms.

Judge Kenneth L. Govendo granted the release of 26-year-old Wilbur Vic Masga Inos, subject to several conditions, including the posting of a property bond worth $130,000.

Govendo also ordered Inos to observe a 7 p.m.-6 a.m. curfew every night. The court, however, allowed Inos to stay out an hour late on those times when he is undergoing police training.

Inos was ordered to stay out of all poker houses and game rooms on Rota, and have no direct contact with the owner of Rota Poker.

Govendo set the arraignment for Aug. 22 at 10:30 a.m. on Rota.

Inos was charged with separate counts of robbery and assault with a dangerous weapon. Judge David A. Wiseman earlier set the bail to $75,500.

DPS-Rota criminal investigator George A. Barcinas, in his affidavit, said they received a call from Rota Poker at 4:14 a.m. on Aug. 4 regarding  a robbery incident perpetrated by Inos.

The defendant later surrendered the green plastic bag containing the money he got from the poker parlor. The rifle he used in the robbery was found later on the roof of a  barracks unit. He said his son was in  critical condition on Guam.
