The health center allowed three nurses to return to work last week.
Of the remaining seven, five have expired contracts while two have existing contracts with SEAS.
They have informed the Philippine Overseas Workers Welfare Administration office on Saipan about their needs.
Tayag said they received the nurses’ request on Tuesday.
OWWA on Saipan has been extending food assistance to Filipino workers in need, he added.
Last year, the office assisted 12 Filipinos who were retrenched from their jobs. The office also helped the fire victims in Chinatown.
But only OWWA members are given assistance, Tayag said.
Consul General Medardo Macaraig said his office is also monitoring the case of the SEAS nurses on Rota and Tinian.
He said he has already communicated with the CNMI Department of Labor.
“We are hoping the CNMI government will give proper solution to the problem for the interest of both the nurses on Rota and Tinian and the community members,” he added.
Rota Mayor Melchor A. Mendiola earlier said that SEAS would renew the expired contracts of the nurses on Rota.
As of press time yesterday, no contract had been renewed.
Variety was told that the five nurses with expired contract were advised to wait until October, when the government already has a new budget for fiscal year 2011.
The affected nurses declined to comment.
