Vinycia Seman, the committee chairwoman, said they want to see more participants this year.
As of yesterday, 14 individuals had picked up applications, she said.
“We want to let them know they will have more incentives this year, like free travel to Korea and Japan,” she added.
Seman urged qualified residents to submit their applications so the committee can start reviewing them.
Liberation Queen 2011 will also travel to Guam, she added.
The deadline for applications is May 2.
Seman said the minimum $300 raffle tickets that each candidate will sell by the first counting will be used to pay for the printing of tickets and the purchase of the sash and crown.
After the final counting, the candidates will receive 10 to 20 percent of the proceeds depending on the amount they have raised, she added.
The Liberation Day Committee will receive the remaining balance of the proceeds raised by each candidate, she said.
Applications are available for pick up at the mayor’s office at the Afetnas building in San Antonio during working hours.
