Students and their teachers gathered at the Saipan Community Church chapel to talk about the purpose and vision of the upcoming school activity which will be held on March 13.
The carnival is an ecological friendly way to raise funds for the replacement of the school’s fire alarm system.
Through the activity, the children are introduced to the concept of reduce, reuse, and recycle in conserving the beauty of the island.
Each of the classes will host a game booth made from recycled materials.
Government agencies such as the Division of Environmental Quality and Coastal Resources Management as well other groups that share the vision of helping the environment are invited.
Students from kindergarten to eighth grade performed the “3 R Song” by Jack Johnson — “Reduce, Reuse, Recycle” — before the school community meeting ended.
“We want the kids to know what’s happening to the world and the environment. We are inviting everyone to come out and join us in our Eco-friendly Karnival and have a good time,” said Saipan Community School principal Bobby Winkfield.
