Public Health Secretary Joseph Kevin Villagomez said the task force is now coordinating with the agencies regarding a vaccination campaign at their work sites.
“This will make it easy for the people to get the flu shot,” he said.
The task force will administer the H1N1 vaccine to personnel of the Department of Public Safety, the Commonwealth Utilities Corp. and other agencies.
Villagomez said they will also conduct worksite vaccination at any private corporation.
Tourists can also avail of the vaccine, he added.
But Public Health cannot just administer the vaccine to any tourist or visiting friends of nonresident workers until “we know what program they have in their country,” he said.
Aside from the H1N1 campaign, Villagomez said the Commonwealth Health Center will continue to provide seasonal flu shots to members of the community.
The seasonal flu shot, however, will only be administered at the CHC immunization clinic, he added.
“We still have the seasonal flu vaccine available. We are pushing for H1N1 because when we look at the prevalent flu in the region it is mainly H1N1 that we’re seeing, so we try to maximize efforts to stop H1N1” Villagomez said.
Public Health immunization manager Mariana Sablan Coats said it is highly recommended to get the H1N1 vaccine even if a person has already received the seasonal flu shot.
Any person can get both vaccines separately, she said.
Since September, she added, Public Health has administered over 5,000 doses of the seasonal flu vaccine.
