Project consultant William S. Torres said the directory will direct residents to all the agencies without having to leaf through the thick pages of a phone book.
The one-page directory, which will soon be distributed to all government offices and major establishments, contains information about the different agencies like contact persons, telephone and fax numbers, e-mail addresses and Web sites.
The directory also includes the licenses and permits as well as services offered by each of the agencies.
The “Neighborhood Revitalization and Resource Directory” was initiated by the Saipan municipal council.
Project vice chairman and council member Ramon B. Camacho said the brochure is part of their public service to the people of Saipan.
One of their other projects is the revival of Chalan Kanoa as Saipan’s “capital.”
Torres said Chalan Kanoa needs to be revived because it contains most of Saipan’s historical landmarks and assets.
Torres said various agencies have planned activities like repairing potholes, removing debris and scrap materials, cleaning vacant lots, sweeping the streets, and other beatification activities.
Agencies in the Neighborhood Revitalization and Resource Directory are the Saipan Mayor’s Office, the Bureau of Environmental Health, the Northern Marianas Housing Corp., the Division of Environmental Quality, the Zoning Board, the Historic Preservation Office, the JROTC program, the Department of Public Works, the Department of Lands and Natural Resources, the Marianas Visitors Authority, the Commonwealth Utilities Corp., the Department of Public Safety, the Coastal Resources Management Office, the Criminal Justice Planning Agency, the Commonwealth Development Authority and the Neighborhood Task Force.
