The donation was made as part of the company’s sponsorship of the foundation’s eighth annual golf tournament held last April.
“We acknowledge NMC’s continuous efforts to improve the quality of life for residents of the CNMI through educational advancement and professional development,” said Tetsuya Matsunaga, vice president/GM of Saipan Laolao Bay Golf and Resort. “We are proud to help the college in all its efforts.”
Saipan Laulau Development Inc., a continued supporter of NMC, has donated nearly $14,000 over the past two years.
The donation was also part of the CNMI’s qualifying certificate program, which calls for Saipan Laulau to make benefit contributions to community-based public programs and activities.
“We continue to be grateful for Saipan Laulau’s donation and continued support of the college and the NMC Foundation,” said NMC Foundation president Ben Babauta.
The Foundation is a non-profit organization whose goal is to raise funds to support NMC, the CNMI’s lone post-secondary educational institution. The organization is composed of individuals who are dedicated and committed to ensuring that CNMI students receive the utmost support in pursuing their educational goals.
“Saipan Laulau’s continuous support of NMC reflects the company’s steadfast commitment to advancing higher education opportunities for CNMI students,” said acting NMC Interim President Bobbie Merfalen. “We are ever thankful for their contribution.”
