Saipan mayor commends employers who hire Reservists, National Guard members

As a veteran himself, Apatang said he has been supporting the ESGR and has provided office space to the program.

In 2019, Apatang was recognized by ESGR, the first individual honored by the program on Saipan.

Lt. Gov. Arnold I. Palacios earlier signed a proclamation designating Aug. 17-22, 2020 as Employer Support of the Guard and Reserve Week.

ESGR area chair Rose Igitol lauded the governor’s office  for the proclamation and the CNMI Legislature for adopting a joint resolution “honoring our brave men and women in the Guard and Reserve, the civilian employers who hire and support these men and women and the Guam-CNMI ESGR volunteers, for their work in promoting supportive work environments for these brave men and women and their employers.”

The Saipan mayor’s office field operations director, Joann Aquino, is the area ombudsman of ESGR in the CNMI.

Aquino said it is important to honor employers in the government,  the private sector and organizations that support their employees who are also Reservists or members of the National Guard.

“These individuals are disciplined and highly skilled workers who display pride, leadership, responsibility and professionalism in what they do,” Aquino also said.

For more information, call the ESGR office at the Saipan Mayor’s Office at 234-6208, and ask for Joann Aquino. You may also call Rose Igitol at 287-1129.
