Camacho, the Saipan and Northern Islands Municipal Council chairman, said people will always find way to engage in cockfight.
“This has been their sport every weekend,” he said.
The cockfighting license given to Mary Ann D. Calvo expired on Sept. 4.
However, Variety learned that the license has already been extended and it will expire until the enactment of House Local Bill 17-21, which will amend the Saipan Cockfighting Act of 1984.
Flores earlier said that illegal cockfights are highly doubtful to occur since it is the molting session of roosters.
But Camacho said people will always look for ways to engage in cockfights whatever the season is.
The mayor said as soon as H.L.B. 17-21 becomes law, his office will accept bid proposals for cockfight operations.
