Mayor Donald Flores said his office has an arrangement with CUC in providing water supply to the community.
The designated fire hydrants are on Capital Hill.
He said his office will continue to coordinate with CUC, particularly during a power outage, so it can deliver water to areas with no or little supply.
Earlier, CUC and the Department of Public Safety’s fire division forged a partnership to stop the unauthorized use of fire hydrants and ensure their maintenance.
CUC noted that the mayor’s office, the Division of Parks and Recreation and the Department of Public Works had been drawing water from the fire hydrants.
CUC said only the fire stations in San Roque, Kagman, Garapan, Susupe, and Koblerville were allowed to use the fire hydrants on island.
“The mayor’s office is providing service to the needy in the community. We are not stealing water,” Flores said.
No payment is being asked by CUC but the mayor’s office will be advised if there’s a low level of water, he added.
Flores said they now have two working water tanks to serve the community.
