Saipan mayor’s office: No more deliveries on weekends

Last June, the mayor’s office started charging for the delivery of tables and benches.

Due to the funding cuts imposed in fiscal year 2012, the mayor’s office budget and fiscal officer Terry Camacho said they may stop performing public services during weekends starting this month.

Delivery of tables and chairs upon request will continue during weekdays but for a fee, she added.

The mayor’s office will no longer deliver aggregates on weekend, she said, adding that their personnel remain on a 64-hour work schedule without overtime.

From Oct. 2010 to August this year, the mayor’s office responded to 254 requests for table and bench deliveries. The mayor’s community service request report also indicated 74 water deliveries during the same period; 221 coral deliveries for a total of 306 loads; 32 tree cutting operations; 103 road repairs; 26 trash trailers; 36 junk car removals; 54 debris removal operations; 25 installations of stage; and 52 land clearing operations.
