Saipan mayor’s office resumes normal operations

This week, he said, his office will again provide dog registration as well as marriage and municipal ID processing services.

The office will be open from 7:30 a.m. to 4:40 p.m., Monday to Thursday, and closed on austerity Friday, Saturday, and Sunday.

Apatang said visitors should always comply with the Covid-19 protocols, which include wearing a face mask and observing social distancing.

“We had a successful soft opening last week,” he said, adding that despite the limited manpower they were able to resume the island beautification program and delivery of basic services to the community.

Apatang said he also officiated three marriages last week.

The field operation personnel, he added, are again conducting cleanup operations in the adopt-a-road area from San Antonio to Koblerville, removing debris in the villages, and beautifying Sugar King Park.

The mayor said once he gets additional funding, his office will rehire the 38 employees who were terminated due to the Covid-19 crisis.
