The first group, consisting of eight students from Hopwood Junior High School, Saipan Southern High School and Chacha Oceanview Junior High School, will leave the islandon Feb. 1.
They will stay in Noboribetsu, Hokkaidô, Japan for five days and visit important historical and cultural landmarks, including museum and schools.
This is an annual program usually held in February, Tudela said, adding that the event aims to further strengthen the relations between the CNMI and Japan.
The second group, comprising 16 students and four chaperons, will leave Saipan for the Sanpo-En Cultural Exchange Program from Feb. 9 to 15.
Tudela said the costs of the trip will be paid by the students’ parents while the accommodations will be provided by the organizing committee of the Sanpo-En Cultural Exchange Program.
Tudela said they have yet to finalize the participants of the cultural exchange program as they are still waiting for more applications from students.
The deadline for the submission of applications is Jan. 15.
He said four students from Hopwood Junior High School, Saipan Southern High School and Chacha Oceanview Junior High School have already confirmed their participation.
