Saluta wants to be released to wife

Detained since Sept. 22, 2010 after he voluntarily surrendered to authorities, Saluta, who is represented by the Public Defender’s Office, is asking the court to release him to his wife Juliet as third party custodian.

Associate Judge Kenneth L. Govendo earlier reduced Saluta’s bail from $10,000 to $5,250.

The judge found probable cause to believe that Saluta may have committed the charges of assault with a dangerous weapon, and disturbing the peace filed by the Attorney General’s Office.

Mrs. Saluta and their five young children are now staying in Chalan Piao.

Community members provided assistance to the Saluta family after they took temporary shelter at a public park following their eviction from an apartment last August.

The Saluta couple have been unemployed for years now.
