In a statement, Tuilaepa said he had wanted an update on recent political developments in Fiji from Ligairi, and the visit was accepted on this basis.
He said it was unacceptable that the interim government then saw fit to put out a media statement that attributed views and even quoted what he was supposed to have said from a meeting that he considered to be confidential.
Tuilaepa said Ligairi knows very well the message which he wanted relayed back to interim Fiji Prime Minister Frank Bainimarama.
He said it was not what was reported in the interim government’s media release.
Tuilaepa said he hopes the special envoy has now conveyed his message, which out of normal respect for leaders in the Pacific, is not to be conveyed through the media.
