Samoan government to purchase land in Auckland

Secretary of Finance Hinauri Petana is in New Zealand to negotiate the purchase.

The dividends of about $2 million paid by the Polyblue partnership last year has been assigned by the government for the preparatory work for the purchase.

Prime Minister Tuilaepa Sailele Malielegaoi announced the plans during the celebration of the 29 years of the founding of the ruling Human Rights Protection Party in Auckland last November, which was well received by Samoans in New Zealand.

The Samoan consulate is currently housed at the Samoa House on Karanagahape Road and was purchased in the mid-1970’s.
