Parents and other members of the community joined the students in celebrating the event with colorful hats, costumes, and flags that the children created to represent the various members of the U.N.
The purpose of the celebration was to teach students awareness of the world around them, and remind them that despite the differences in race, color, and religion, we can still discover something in common while learning something new and establishing respect for our differences.
The children learned these lessons while having fun.
