The program provides assistance to students from low- or moderate-income households in American Samoa, Saipan and Guam seeking to further their education in finance, accounting or business. Students in this program must show a commitment to return to their respective community after graduation from BYU-Hawaii.
In addition to the $100,000 for scholarships, students in the Pacific Banking Scholars Program can benefit from BYU-Hawaii’s loan forgiveness program, which has been incorporated into its school-to-work financial aid program, I-WORK. Students’ financial needs will be funded 50 percent by a scholarship and 50 percent through a loan that will be forgiven over a four-year period if the student returns to American Samoa, Saipan or Guam.
Students interested in applying for the program can contact BYU–Hawaii Career Services (career.byuh.edu, 808-675-3975) for more information.
