This was the SDA Clinic’s third annual “Clinic with a Heart” — a special day of free dental treatment for children and adults who live on Saipan.
This free dental day was for those experiencing a toothache and had no means to visit a dentist for relief.
The Seventh-day Adventist Clinic treated 91 patients on Sunday and donated dental supplies.
Treatment ranged from extractions, fillings, exams, x-rays, pulpal treatment, oral health care instruction and more.
Each patient was lovingly taken care of in SDA’s state of the art dental clinic.
Each patient left the SDA Clinic with a free toothbrush and big smile knowing that they were on their way to a healthier mouth.
The extra-special part to this free dental treatment day was all of the 18 SDA staff who participated volunteered their time and skills to serve the underserved of Saipan.
Dr. Ken D. Pierson is the director of the Seventh-day Adventist Dental Clinic.
When asked why the SDA Clinic enjoys donating their time and supplies to serve the unreached dental needs of Saipan residents, he said: “Well, that’s the SDA Clinic’s mission! All three of the dentists here at SDA are church mission dentists. We aim to serve and care for the needs of everyone in Saipan. That’s why we open our clinic for special free dental days. We want to help and be a service to others as Christ was. He is our example and we should model our lives after His. Earlier this year in February, we held another free clinic day especially for children called ‘Give Kids a Smile’ where we treated over 70 kids.”
The SDA Clinic’s mission statement is:
“To provide excellent dental care to the Saipan community based on Christian principles. The Saipan Seventh-day Adventist Clinic is owned and operated by the Seventh-day Adventist World Church Organization. We are here to serve as Christ served His community in a compassionate, ethical and moral way. We seek to restore the image of God and to make man whole in body, mind and spirit.”
The SDA Dental Clinic is a frontrunner on Saipan for state of the art dentistry and has been serving the community for the past 36 years.
The SDA Clinic plans on continuing the annual tradition of Clinic with a Heart.
The Seventh-day Adventist Clinic accepts major insurance plans and Medicaid.
