Schrack held the position in an acting capacity since his predecessor, Eloy S. Inos, became the first appointed lt. governor of the CNMI in May of 2009. Inos succeeded then-Lt. Gov. Timothy P. Villagomez who is now serving federal jail time for corruption charges.
The Senate Committee on Executive Appointments and Governmental Investigations, chaired by Sen. Francisco Q. Cruz, R-Tinian, earlier endorsed Schrack’s confirmation.
Schrack served as the special assistant to the Finance secretary before Inos recommended him for the post.
He has been with the Department of Finance since 1995 and has worked under four different administrations.
Employees of the department backed his appointment and so did other cabinet officials of the Fitial administration.
