Senior citizen robbed by two masked men

THE Department of Public Safety is seeking the community’s assistance in identifying the suspects in a burglary and robbery incident on Capital Hill.

DPS Assistant Chief of Police Simon T. Manacop said the incident was reported on Sunday, Oct. 15 at 7:28 a.m.

“Preliminary investigation reveals that an 84-year-old male victim was asleep at his residence between 12 a.m. and 1 a.m. when he was awakened by two males who were inside his residence,” Manacop said.

Both males were wearing a mask.

“One of the suspects held the victim and threatened him with a knife while the other rummaged through the victim’s belongings,” Manacop added.

The suspects later fled the scene, taking the victim’s $650 in cash, an Echo brushcutter and two Samsung cellphones.

The victim was unharmed.

“The incident was not reported immediately as the victim did not have any other form of communication except the cellphones which were stolen. A helper who arrived in the morning to do yard cleaning for the victim then assisted in reporting the incident,” said Manacop, the department’s acting public information officer while Police Sgt. Fred Sato is on leave.

Anyone who has information about this incident should call the DPS Criminal Investigation Division at (670) 664-9042, DPS headquarters at (670) 664-9001 or the Crime Stoppers Hotline at (670) 234-7272 if they wish to remain anonymous.
