In August, sales were down 8.33 percent.
Based on the latest data released by the Commonwealth Auto Dealers Association, the island’s three car dealers — Joeten Motors, Microl Corp. and Triple “J” Motors — sold a total of 50 brand new vehicles last month. They sold 40 in September last year.
Last month, they sold 15 sedans, 5 trucks, 7 vans and 23 sport utility vehicles.
Microl sold 23 units of brand new Toyota cars, representing 46 percent market share. Joeten followed with 18 units sold, comprising 7 units of Ford, 6 of Nissan, 3 of Honda and 2 of Kia. Triple “J” Motors sold 9 — 2 units of Hyundai, 3 of Suzuki and 4 of Mazda.
From January to September, sales for brand new cars increased by 38.21 percent. The three dealers sold a total of 463 brand new cars.
Microl sold 205; Joeten, 158; and Triple “J,” 100.
Sold last September were 210 sedans, 67 trucks, 29 vans and 157 sport utility vehicles. The dealers sold a total of 335 brand new cars for the same 10-month period last year.
Used cars
The three dealers sold 15 used vehicles last month — each dealer selling 5. To date, the dealers have sold a total of 224 used cars for the year.
Joeten Motors led with 82; Triple “J,” 73; and Microl, 69.
Joeten is the distributor of Nissan, Ford, Honda and Kia. Microl sells Toyota and Chevrolet, while Triple “J” is the local dealer of Hyundai, Mitsubishi, Isuzu, Suzuki, and Mazda.
