In support of the local business community, the Office of Rep. Marissa Flores has sponsored 10 certification scholarships for eligible businesses located in Precinct 3. Businesses from Precinct 3 are strongly encouraged to apply early to take advantage of this generous opportunity.

Why this training matters

In November 2024, the Commonwealth Healthcare Corporation-Environmental Health and Disease Prevention officially phased out the local food regulatory code and adopted the 2022 FDA Food Code. Under the new code, every food establishment is required to have a certified food protection manager on-site during operating hours who demonstrates food safety knowledge and ensures procedures are followed.

Benefits of having a certified food protection manager

• Enhanced Food Safety: Implementing effective procedures reduces the risk of foodborne illness.

• Regulatory Compliance: Stay up-to-date and avoid costly penalties.

• Public Health Protection: Ensure proper food handling and storage practices.

• Cost Savings: Minimize food waste and prevent losses from food safety violations.

• Improved Operations: Streamline workflows with trained leadership.

This training represents a critical investment in the safety, efficiency, and compliance of your food service business.

Don’t miss this opportunity to certify your staff and prepare your establishment for regulatory success.
